You know, I'm seriously surprised it was considered a "power". [ motions to his own center chest. ] I can see people's flames. Their souls. My friend told me it might be synaesthesia, but maybe he's wrong?

I've heard there are cultivators who can sense different types of qi. Is it similar to that?

Yeah, that sounds like it might be similar. There's no magic or qi where I'm from, so it's possibly equivalent.

[ hehe. tips his chin. ]

I've heard that some worlds don't have any of that. But if that's the case, how can you see souls at all?

...Sure, why not? What's it like?

That is the question, isn't it? It's just something I've been able to do for a long time.

[ just for fun. anyway he concentrates on the point just above leng feng's heart, watching the orb of flame roil for a moment. ]

A clear kind of blue. Moves more like water than fire. And... [ hm ] There's something coiled around it.

[ he steps closer. ]

[ looks down at his own chest as if he could see this ]

Wow. That... makes sense. You can really see that much?

Yeah, about that much. It's more vague for some people. You must have a strong sense of identity, or something else going on.

[ hmm. sure he'll let this slip too. ]

I can see if people have more than one soul within them, as well.

[stillsea]

[ whatever he thinks about this "something else", he's not saying. maybe he doesn't think there is anything to say? he does know himself very well. ]

That can happen? [ pauses, thoughtful. ] No, I guess it could. Are there... any outwardly visible signs when that happens, or is it just the souls?

[culet]

[ and michiru's not the type to pry further than this, at least not for now. keep your secrets. ]

Not exactly. There's just two souls instead of one, if they share a body at the time. [ hm. ] Theoretically more, but I've never encountered that...

Ah, wait, when they switched over, it was a little clear. His eyes changed, and his tone of voice.

[ he is thinking really hard about something, but eventually shakes his head. anyway. ]

I didn't realize that having more than one soul was something that happened very often.

Neither did I. Coming here has been really interesting so far.

...If Mikoto has more than one soul, don't ask him about it. [ just makes the assumption given what little he knows. ] He's asked us not to before, so we should all respect that.

Ahh. Okay, I won't ask him, if he's expressed discomfort.

Another? [ a little surprised, but. hm. ] ...It hasn't come up with anyone else yet, so I suppose it's up to you to decide.

So you have powers to do with water?

[ well now this is going to bug him. pretty WHAT. ]

Oh, yeah. It's not a secret. [ just summons up a swirling ball of water to demonstrate! ] It's a form of qi manipulation. Everyone in my family can do it... and probably the whole clan if they tried, but not everyone learns how.

[culet]

[ reaches out to touch the water... like it might be special effects... ]

That's pretty cool. It just comes naturally to you.

It is part of who I am.

[ it is just normal water so touching it is fine, but he grins. ]

I can turn it into ice, too.

[ his eyes go SO sparkly. he does not, however, take his fingies out of the water orb.

[ you know, normally leng feng would be nice, but it's the way michiru's eyes go all sparkly that makes the gremlin instinct kick in.

he grins, and the whole orb of water suddenly solidifies into ice. including michiru's fingers. ]

[ yep. he tries to waggle his fingers but they're real stuck in there! ]

That's really cold. And instantly like that...! Have you tried it on other liquids? Could you do that to tea? Soup? Blood?

[ aaaaand a moment later it'll melt back into regular old water. have your fingies back. ]

I haven't tried much? Tea works fine mostly, but, uh... it never really occurred to me to try soup. Or... blood.

[ lmao what the hell man? ]

[ wow. cold fingies. he flexes them a bit to get the feeling back into them but seems very pleased by the overall experience. ]

I just mean that the applications could be really useful for a lot of situations. Instant cooling.

...I can do instant cooling, sure, but it would probably just be regular ice.
